Position Overview:

Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Job Description:

EDUCATION

• Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

• Graduate of Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent education/experience

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

• RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner

• BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider within 180 Days of hire

• PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days of hire

• Intubation Certification within Intubation Certification

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

• Acute care clinical experience in Respiratory Care, training in arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.

• Previous experience in performing EKG is desired.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, chemistry, and physics.

• Knowledge of bedside pulmonary function testing; mechanics and equipment.

• Knowledge of arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, equipment and quality control.

• Demonstrated familiarity with the Joint Commision on Accredidation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards and College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.

• Must be able to understand, read and write the English language.

Pay Range is $50.64 to $62.03 / hour
