Designs and implements a variety of activity therapies focusing on each patient's needs with the objective of fostering positive interactions, coping skills, enrichment and community integration. Ensures that the activities meet each patient's recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs while complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards of care. Typically provides services to geriatric population in a variety of settings that may include other populations with special needs. Documents and records individual evaluation and treatment plans in accordance with the multidisciplinary treatment team procedures and applicable regulations. Educates patients and their families/caregivers on their treatment plan, progress, and options to restore independence and functional capacity. As a department resource, provides education and supervision to student interns and volunteers as appropriate.Job Description:
EDUCATION
Master's: Counseling Psychology or Marriage & Family Therapy or related field or equivalent education/experience
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
LMFT-Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge of group dynamics, psychiatric disabilities and treatment modalities.
Working knowledge of The Joint Commission, Title 22, and Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA) as they relate to activities therapy.
Maintains a repertoire in various activities including, but not limited to, community resources, arts and crafts, games, sports, exercise, social activities and life skills training.
In-depth understanding of medical terminology, including advanced proficiency in activity interest surveys, Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Protocol (RAP) evaluations.
Solid knowledge of vocational training, as well as a specialty area, e.g., psychiatry, dual diagnosis, etc.
Possesses written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills to explain treatments, diagnoses, or sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
Exceptional program development/administration skills, including effective and influential group leadership skills.
Proficient computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), and EPIC to create/update patient electronic health records.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team, while demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities/cases simultaneously, sometimes with rapidly changing priorities.
Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s Protected Health Information (PHI).
Ability to analyze possible solutions using precedents, existing departmental guidelines and policies, experience and good judgment to identify and solve standard problems.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with patients, their families/care givers, peers, and other healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, etc.) to provide the highest quality of patient care.

Pay Range is $40.74 to $54.99 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
