Position Overview:

Provides and assist in quality patient care in the Stepdown ICU/Neurosciences unit under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.

Job Description:

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Provides appropriate direct patient care to patients under the supervision of Registered Nurse.
• Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service.
• Duties to include, but not limited to: Cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of mobile equipment, assisting patients with toileting, taking vital signs, collecting specimens for laboratory testing, assisting patients with feeding, maintaining basic cleanliness of a patient's rooms, transporting patients (including to the morgue as necessary), managing patient equipment.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
• Adheres to hospital and nursing department P&P’s, objective, QI program, safety, environment and Infection Control standards. Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
• Maintains effective communication.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Maintains a sufficient level of patient related supplies, stocks warmers with blankets, gloves in rooms, and more duties as assigned.
• Participate in an educational program and in service meetings.

EDUCATION

• Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
• HS Diploma
• Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant or Surgical Instrument Technician program

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURECNA

• Certified Nurse Assistant
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

• 2 years CNA experience preferred
• Previous experience in direct patient care preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Assist with lifting, supporting, maneuvering, and adjusting the position of patients weighing over 200 pounds
• Ability to make fine discrimination in sound
• OSHA Risk Category I (High Risk) Occasionally pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
• Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

Pay Range is $29.77 to $33.34 / hour
