Completes registration of patients into the computer system in an accurate and efficient manner. Registers and processes all patients for services in the Emergency and Trauma Departments. After hours and on weekends, is responsible for registering Radiology, Laboratory and Physical Therapy patients. Completes patient paperwork, including Advance Directives, Consent Forms, Medical Screening Form and Medicare Rights. Processes and responds to telephone inquiries, monitors emergency communication services and initiates emergency response system to codes. Correctly identifies and routes callers and provides assistance and resources for inquiries.Job Description:
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Registers all inpatient admissions into the computer and distributes required documents to nursing stations immediately during the hours that the Admitting department is closed.
- Reviews registration documents to ensure accuracy of account numbers on bar coded labels and patient ID plates.
- Accurately records patient payments and reconciles daily cash.
- Pulls charts for the Medical Records Department for patients who register for ED and trauma services during the hours when the Medical Records Department is closed.
- Answers inquiries form patients, their families and the public by telephone and in person. Directs the appropriately.
- Processes and responds to telephone inquiries, monitors emergency communication services and initiates emergency response system to codes. Correctly identifies and routes callers and provides assistance and resources for inquiries.
- Identifies correct resources for issues so as to correctly direct calls for patients, family members, other providers. Is
- familiar with all aspects and services provided at the specific facility.
- Registers and processes all patients for services in the Emergency and Trauma Departments. - Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductibles as required after the patient has been screened of all emergency conditions by RN.
- Compiles and distributed information regarding patients’ personal insurance and financial status. Provide appropriate photocopies and accurately completed forms to billing and other departments. Phones PMD and/or HMO for appropriate authorization as needed.

EDUCATION
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
- Medical transcription experience preferred

Pay Range is $28.11 to $35.60 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
