Position Overview:

Duties:


• Creates and/or utilizes product development tools, standards and methodologies.
• Analyzes medium-complex specifications provided by application analysts to create detailed, moderately complex technical design. 
• Recommends how existing applications, legacy systems, databases, Web interfaces and/or hardware logic, which may be currently operating on multiple platforms, work together to meet the new and emerging enterprise requirements.
• Understands application workflow with ability to recommend to application analysts and end users an alternative solution.   
• Proactively identifies potential issues with the integrity of the assigned systems and will ensure ability to accommodate increased requirements including transaction volumes and interfaces.
• May lead in component and data architecture design, software product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations.
• High familiarity with their assigned products to ensure that vendor solutions are optimized rather than creating new configurations. 
• Identifies innovative solutions to achieve IS and Business Operational goals, objectives and deliverables.  
Development
• Writes moderately complex code in computer language appropriate to the assignment to create application programs to meet user’s needs.  
• As requested, develops detail level code flow diagrams to communicate functionality at all levels of understanding.  
• As requested, develops methods to efficiently use existing code components.  
• Performs functional testing of code (their own as well as levels 1-2) to validate quality ensuring maximum efficiency with least possible impact to system. 
• Creates and publishes technical documentation for all code generated; assists levels 1-2 in documentation.  
• Leads and/or participates in code review sessions.
• Proven knowledge of all integration points with all other applications; server team; interfaces and other key areas.  
Test and Implement
• Develops technical test scripts working with the applications analyst to ensure all areas of testing occurs including unit; integration; end user; and performance.
• Supports unit, integration, and end user testing by resolving identified defects and assists levels 1-2 in their issue resolutions.  
• Participates in implementation cut-over meetings and may develop technical implementation cut-over plan.
• Executes cut-over plan and deploys code to production. 
• Supports and recommends changes to the continued evolution of the design and architecture of the assigned applications to provide Sutter Health with future growth and expansion potential.
• Documents technical support in knowledge based tools including migration to different environments.  Ensures they are following protocol to track all custom code; vendor replacement of custom code and upgrade impact to custom code.

• Hands-on experience using technical protocol is preferred.  
• Experience with project management software is preferred
• In-depth experience of healthcare related applications as typically acquired in 6 to 8 years. 
• Technical and business experience.
• Demonstrated increasingly responsible professional growth. 
• Experience of one of the following: SQL, RPG and/or various databases (e.g., Informix, Mumps/Cache, Oracle).
• Experience in consulting with vendors, clients and management.  
• Strong problem and issue resolution experience.  
• High skill set at specifying user requirements.
• Knowledge of industry standards to support business requirements. 
• Knowledge of health care operations and structure, general requirements in an integrated delivery system, and use of information system applications in the practicing health care environment. 
• Good knowledge of life cycle of application environments. 
• Expert in assigned application(s) and broad understanding of integrated systems. 
• Good understanding of hospital inpatient, clinic outpatient operations, and/or financial software along with understanding the technical environment of product lines for which they are responsible.
• Good technical understanding of the table and file structures of the IS supported systems as they relate to the data integration, as well as a high level understanding of the downstream applications to which the core systems integrate.
• Systems analysis and design in a PC-Windows, client-server, or midrange environment is desired. 
• Skilled knowledge of current technology and how it is best utilized in designing systems and implementing applications.
• A highly skilled level of knowledge of computer science, related programming, data structures and relational and non relational databases. 
• Knowledge of healthcare industry and hospital operations preferred.  
• Strong problem and issue resolution abilities. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

• Highly developed organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple activities and objectives in a rapidly changing environment, and deliver quality service. 
• Exceptional customer service including responding to user needs in a prompt, courteous manner. 
• Proficient at specifying user requirements, interacting with technical, health care staff and vendors, and documenting user needs, outcomes, and procedures. 
• Ability to articulate technical and user needs in a concise manner easily understood by all.  
• Project management methodology and other professional software tools. 
• Self directed; self motivated; and independent thinking as well as an effective team player. 
• Ability to influence others without direct lines of authority.  
• Ability to take complex problems, requirements, or strategies; research solutions and take from concept to implementation for desired outcomes.
• Proven leadership skills.

Education:

  • BA/ BS- IS, Computer Science or related field required or equivalent Ed/Exp.
