Performs food preparation and storage, serving of meals and snacks, cleaning and storing of dishes, utensils, pots, and general department sanitation. May be assigned to tray line, cafeteria, dish room, host/hostess, or catering or may be assigned to relieve in other areas. Recording of data is a part of this position. Food products require very simple preparation.
Entry-level position. Previous food service experience desired. Ability to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions. Must be able to read, write and speak English as well as understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions. Must have sufficient mathematical ability to perform basic measurement and portioning activities including increasing and decreasing recipes.
The Food Service Technician’s functions are largely self-guided. This position is the initial point of contact for staff, outpatients and visitors utilizing the department as an area of rest and refreshment. It is the responsibility of this position to maintain positive customer and public relations while performing service and organizational duties with frequent interruptions. Cashier operation must be accurate. The Dishwasher position is a task-oriented position that operates within a teamwork environment. The dishwasher is responsible for supporting the process of the production of quality food products in a timely manner and closing down the kitchen at night. When providing floater / catering assistance must be able to follow the direction provided by the Supervisor or Cook, and provide support service to the department. Must be able to function independently in order to set up and break down a catered event as directed. Must be self directed enough to seek guidance from supervisor or cook when a task is finished, rather than waiting to be directed.
Essential Job Duties Include & Are Not Limited To: Prepares miscellaneous cold foods. Prepares meat sandwiches. Prepares & cooks pies, cookies, etc. Cashiers in cafeteria. Follows recipes to prepare foods. Chops, dices, & grinds cold meats, vegetables & cheeses. Prepare salad bar.
