Respiratory Therapist II-Per Diem

Position Overview:

The new Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital (SSRRH) is located in the heart of Northern California's famous wine country, just 50 miles north of San Francisco and 30 minutes from the beautiful Pacific Coast. Providing quality health care services to the residents of Sonoma County for over 130 years, SSRRH has 118 licensed beds (84 Inpatient, 24 Outpatient & 10 Labor & Delivery) and serves a population of more than 130,000+ people. Centers of excellence include: Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Women's and Children's Services, and Level III NICU.

We are searching for a Respiratory Therapist to join our team, some duties include: 

1.Must perform all duties of the Respiratory Therapist I with little or no supervision.

2.Participates in, and assigns fair and equitable work assignments to ensure appropriate match of staff skill level and demonstrated competency with clinical responsibilities.

3.Contributes recommendations to improve patient care service and systems through consultation with Medical Director and Director of Respiratory Care

4.Communicates with physicians to ensure service needs are being met.

5.Identifies / requests resources needed to safely perform patient care activities.

6.Participates in codes, (code blue) and Rapid Response Team requests in every area of the hospital.

7.Provides a safe working environment for patients and coworkers.

8.As a member of the health care team, accountable for efficient utilization of hospital resources.

9.Serves as a professional resource for Respiratory Therapist l.

10.Consults with the department manager and the medical director in creating and evaluating respiratory care practices.

11.Consults with the department manager in: coaching, role clarification, and skill feedback for members of the respiratory care department.This includes specific observations contributing to staff performance evaluations.

12.Demonstrates commitment to customer service and promotes a positive perception of the department and the hospital.

13.Demonstrates commitment to the mission, values, and goals of Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa.

14.Deals with others consistently, empathetically, and tactfully.

15.Serves as a resource to other department members for problem solving and conflict resolution.



·Possession of a valid California License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, RCP

·NRP to be obtained within three months of employment and thereafter maintained.

·Advanced certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, (RRT) is encouraged.


·Graduate of a School of Respiratory Therapy recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)


·Two years experience in an acute care hospital with extensive experience inAdult Intensive Care and/or Neonatal Intensive Care.


·Excellent working knowledge of scope of respiratory care responsibilities as well as Respiratory Care Department Policies and Procedures.

·Good working knowledge ofRespiratory Care Act, Title-22 Regulations, Joint Commission guidelines, and general hospital administration practices and procedures required.

·Knowledge of consumer rights, work harassment issues, report mechanisms for abuse and neglect, domestic, child, elder.

·Demonstrates excellent respiratory patient assessment skills and understands appropriate clinical pathway.

·Exhibits thorough understanding of pharmaceuticals administered by respiratory care.

·Thoroughly understands range and methods of oxygen delivery to all patient populations

·Demonstrates advanced understanding of theory and operation of all mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy monitors used at SSRRH.
