The new Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital (SSRRH) is located in the heart of Northern California's famous wine country, just 50 miles north of San Francisco and 30 minutes from the beautiful Pacific Coast. Providing quality health care services to the residents of Sonoma County for over 130 years, SSRRH has 118 licensed beds (84 Inpatient, 24 Outpatient & 10 Labor & Delivery) and serves a population of more than 130,000 people. Centers of excellence include: Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Women's and Children's Services, and Level III NICU.
A Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (CLS II) at SSRRH is responsible for both routine and complex testing completed in assigned sections of the Clinical Laboratory (i.e., Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Coagulation, or Urinalysis). They must be capable of: 1) effectively troubleshooting instruments, 2) resolving problematic testing methodologies, 3) calibrating instruments, and 4) running/analyzing the appropriate controls to assure accurate test results. A CLS II must be able to perform this position under pressure and may be required to work during any shift depending on the department’s needs and their training.
B.S. or B.A. in a biological science. Successful completion of a one-year internship in a Clinical Laboratory Scientist program. Maintains a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
Minimum of 2,080 hours experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an acute care hospital setting.
· Thorough knowledge of the field of clinical laboratory principles, procedures, and practices related to their assigned department (i.e., Microbiology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, or Hematology).
· Understands the concepts of:
· Quality Control.
· Proficiency Testing Programs.
· MSDS Program.
· Laboratory Safety (OSHA Guidelines, Chemical Hygiene).
· Infection Control.
