Lactation Consultant (non RN)- Santa Cruz (Per Diem)

Position Overview:

Responsible and accountable for providing lactation consultation and education services for the lactation center and Perinatal department.  This position is responsible for maintaining a pump rental station, supplies and equipment related to the service.  Incumbent has access to Protected Health Information as needed to accomplish the duties outlined in this job description.  This includes access to the entire medical record. Performs hands on lactation consultation services on an outpatient and inpatient basis.  Develops a management plan and follow-up plan when indicated. Evaluates specific lactation problems by telephone and develops a management and follow-up plan of care when indicated.



Qualifications:

Required: 

  • BLS required.
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a minimum of an associate degree.
  • Specialty education in Lactation education, counseling or consultation is required.
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is required.

Preferred:

Current RN license
