Sterile Processing Tech II - Certified

Position Overview:
Follows approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies and procedures, collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects and/or sterilizes surgical instrumentation.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Licensures and Certifications:

CBSPD with Verification of externship hour completion is required upon hire

Certified Registered Central Services Tech - CRCST is required upon hire

Experience:

6 months to 2 years Sterile Processing Technician job experience Sterile Processing Technician job experience is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of sterilization monitoring, record keeping and quality assurance protocols

Knowledge of surgical equipment such as washer/ decontaminators, steam and gas sterilizer, endoscopic equipment and cleaners, etc.

Knowledge of how to properly clean/ decontaminate basic medical and surgical instrument equipment

Understands the principles of sterilization

Ability to learn new skills in a timely manner, absorbing details and applying learned skill

Ability to read, comprehend and follow organizational and department policies and procedures

Ability to adapt to changing situations under pressure

Demonstrates ability to work with minimal supervision

Basic computer skills to include keyboarding, mouse movement and data entry skills to enter information into practice management and EHR

Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete assignments within time allotted and maintain standard workflow

Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner

Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions

Verbal/written communication and active listening skills; including excellent interpersonal skills

Demonstrates ability to accept, implement and evaluate change

Applies moderate mental application and concentration to handle varying procedures and interruptions

Additional Requirements:

Travel - on a rare occasion

On-call/standby is required on an occasional basis

PM or weekend shift is required on an occasional basis
