This position is available to work from home in the following states: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.Provides complex database development, maintenance, and enhancements in support of the Sutter Health relational database management system (RDBMS) and its associated applications. Functions as a technical leader supporting infrastructure and application team environments and organizes systems and operating procedures that promote core values and optimize departmental effectiveness. Is a lead role in establishing database strategies in support of Sutter Health RDBMS solutions. Lastly, provides implementation and support as well as builds new databases as needed while troubleshooting system defects and problems.
Extensive knowledge of SQL, as well as DB2 and Oracle is highly desired for this SQL Server role. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of Azure cloud services and experience in planning and implementing cost-saving measures. This position will be responsible for various job roles including SQL Server Managed Cloud, SQL Server High Availability, SQL Server Performance Tuning, SQL Server Health Check, and SQL Server Upgrades/Migrations. A strong technical background and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are preferred.
Rotational On-Call coverage required.
Core work hours are 8AM-5PM Pacific.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's: Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent education/experience
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
5 years recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of installing, configuring, tuning, upgrading and migrating various Microsoft SQL Server versions running on Windows platforms.
Working knowledge and understanding of database High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions, including Always On Availability Groups (AOAG) and Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) clustering, Distributed AOAG, log shipping and replication. and mirroring (Note: SQL Server mirroring has been deprecated).
Database performance tuning, optimization, sizing and capacity planning.
Database security and encryption.
Familiarity with the various database versions, editions, components and features.
Familiarity with newer SQL Server features, such as In-Memory OLTP, Always Encrypted, Query Store and Distributed Availability Groups.
Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups such as: executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
Pay Range: $36.64-$68.70
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
