Manages medical nutrition therapy for inpatients and evaluates effectiveness of treatments.
Collaborates with food service staff to provide quality patient food service.
Collaborates with other RD's in the region to maintain diet manual, clinical policies and procedures, education
materials and nutrition practice guidelines.
Participates in interdisciplinary patient rounds as scheduled.
Precepts dietetic interns.
Provides medical nutrition therapy to inpatients, including assessment, reassessment and education.
Provides nutrition information for health professionals and the community that may include public speaking, news
releases, and other forms of publications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education, including Licensure, Certification, Registration
B.S. degree in dietetics, food and nutrition or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Registered dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association OR if Registration eligible, must pass registration exam within 90 days of hire. Advanced certification preferred (i.e. CNSD, CDE, CSP, CSR). Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by CADE of the American Dietetic Association.
Comprehensive knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling principles, pathophysiology, nonpharmacolgic and pharmacologic interventions. General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing andspreadsheet software. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
Recent experience in an acute health care setting is preferred. Expertise in sub-specialty and Long-Term Care is desirable. Previous supervisory/management experience is preferred.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
