Provides photographic documentation of ocular disorders/pathology as requested by providers. Performs a wide variety of highly technical and diagnostic testing procedures, at the direction of the physician, independent of direct supervision, which requires technical judgment and knowledge of ophthalmic pathophysiology in order to obtain optimal results. Captures close-up images of patients' retinas, corneas, and other ocular structures by focusing specialized microscope and cameras to take two and three dimensional photographs of external, anterior, and posterior segments of eye.Job Description:
EDUCATION
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
COA-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant OR COT-Certified Ophthalmic Technologist
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
EXPERIENCE
1 year experience in ophthalmology, preferably as an ophthalmic technician.
1 year experience in fluorescein angiography.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of retinal fundus photography both film and digital systems.
Knowledge, understanding and ability to operate state of the art optical imaging equipment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and eye anatomy.
Clear and complete documentation skills along with computer data entry skills to enter patient information.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment with high degree of motivation.
License/Certifications:
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association, COA-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology, COT-Certified Ophthalmic Technologist - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in OphthalmologyEducation:
