Director, Cancer Center (Outpatient)

Position Overview:

As the Director, Cancer Center for Mills-Peninsula, you will provide overall direction, strategic planning and oversight for programs and activities for oncology services. You will coordinate diverse organizational resources and interdepartmental programs to ensure efficient and effective operations. Additionally, you will be accountable to:

  • Coordinate development and implementation of goals, objectives and long range plans
  • Provide ongoing administrative coordination of the services and activities which comprise the Mills-Peninsula Cancer Center, including: Cancer Registry, Cancer Clinics, Genetic Counseling, Research Program, Infusion Center and Radiation Oncology
  • Identify and initiate the development of new services, program and research opportunities to assure that the needs of internal and external customers are met
  • Provide supervision of cancer center staff and clinical leaders, developing and implementing plans for staffing, directing and monitoring cancer center operations and quality improvement programs
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets
  • Coordinate physician, staff, patient and community education as related to the programs of the Cancer Center
  • Promote and maintain positive and effective hospital and community relationships
  • Adhere to the policies/procedures, regulatory readiness and American College of Surgeons standards
  • Meet with referral sources (physicians, social workers, etc.) for the purposes of promoting the cancer program and gathering feedback
  • Promote program growth

  • Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration or equivalent education/experience
  • Professional or clinical background in healthcare
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience
  • Knowledge of current clinical practices in cancer services, multidisciplinary clinics, infusion center and radiation oncology
  • Knowledge of new and changing standards, including clinical, reimbursement and regulatory
  • Knowledge of Title XXII and JCAHO standards
  • Demonstrated application of management theory and practice including systems analysis, financial and human resource management, organizational development, planning, marketing and governmental regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in a multi-site/complex/cancer hospital setting
