Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse in the Acute Care setting manages the patient/family experience through utilization of critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing judgment/knowledge/skills.



Qualifications:
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program
  • Current California RN license or interim permit
Experience:
  • Acute care experience preferred
  • Experience in area of clinical specialty preferred
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of nursing process in the assessment of physical and psychological needs of patients and their significant others.
  • Demonstrate basic nursing skills
  • Aware of adult learning principles in providing teaching of patients and their significant others.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred in specialty areas.
Department Specific Requirements: SMH PICU Unit
  • Peds experience preferred
  • Completion of Pediatric Nursing Course within 6 months of hire or next available offering
  • PALS within one year of hire and recognition maintained
