Position Overview:
Maintains the general ledger of all Sutter Health accounts as assigned, in order to prepare timely and accurate financial statements. Reconciles general ledger accounts, researches problems and questions, and prepares journal entries.

As a team member in Sutter Shared Services, assists in establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with customers to identify additional ways to be of service and ensure customer satisfaction. Maintains a positive and professional work relationship with all customers and members of teams across Sutter Shared Services.

Supports the success of a high-performing shared services organization by helping to champion and drive the long-term Sutter Shared Services vision. Helps foster an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized. Participates in programs and in using tools in support of building a high performance culture via the standard Sutter Shared Services responsibilities (e.g. performance measurement, people development, customer relationship management, etc.).


• Bachelor's Degree (Finance, Accounting, Business or Related) or equivalent education/experience required.

• Experience in general accounting as typically acquired in 1 or more years, preferably in a service delivery environment
• Experience in the healthcare industry preferred
• Experience in shared services/internal service delivery role preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, and strong Excel skills
• Experience with Lawson preferred

• Knowledge of accounting and/or finance
• Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting methodologies (e.g. regulatory reporting)
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of Sutter Health Finance policies, practices and procedures a plus
• Familiarity with Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) Chart of Accounts is preferred
• Familiarity with performance metrics and ability to meet identified targets a plus
• General understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and shared services enabling technologies (e.g. contact center technologies) is beneficial

• Ability to learn new applications/software systems effectively and efficiently
• Ability to provide constructive feedback to team members to support continuous improvement
• Ability to process requests consistently with high level of accuracy
• Ability to work with, train and coach other team members
• Ability to prioritize problems and promptly resolve or escalate when necessary
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate the Sutter Shared Services organization as needed
• Strong communication skills and have the ability to train others
• Strong time management skills and ability to manage individual assignments and complete duties within tight deadlines
• Ability to recognize the appropriate style, level of detail, and message for the audience
• Requires the ability to work with and maintain confidential information
