Senior Project Manager - EBR Facility & Property Services

Position Overview:
The Senior Project Manager will work with the project team under the guidance of the Regional Program Manager, who has overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Projecto ensure that projects meet all of Sutter Health Conditions of Satisfaction. The Senior Project Manager represents Sutter Health and its affiliates in capital improvement projects, including new development, facility expansion, renovation and retrofitting.

This position will have three key responsibilities:

1) The successful deployment and utilization of the vPlanner software to ensure tight and thorough management of the schedule risk that the project faces. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the team responds in a timely and effective manner to all schedule related risks.

2) The successful deployment and implementation of 3D Modeling by the team to ensure that the team has a fabricatable, constructible, affordable, code compliant design prior to receiving each and every agency approval, to ensure tight and thorough management of the scope and schedule risk that this project faces.

3) Active support of the Regional Program Manager in the successful implementation of effective reporting of the project teams performance against the Owner’s Conditions of Satisfaction (primarily financial and schedule related) through the life of the project.

Through these three responsibilities the Senior Project Manager will have the core task of driving behavioral and cultural change in to the project team.

As directed, this position’s responsibilities may also involve managing the significant risks associated with the budget items that are outside of the IFOA contract.

The Senior Project Manager assists in administering consultant and construction agreements.


Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management or equivalent professional experience in the design and construction of hospitals and medical clinics. Masters preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 5-8 years project management experience with construction projects of increasing complexity. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the delivery of health care facilities including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and psychiatric hospitals from programming through facility activation. Must have been in responsible charge of the delivery of major OSHPD jurisdiction projects exceeding $50 million construction cost and of significant complexity in at least two (2) of the above four (4) categories. Must have experience of managing significant projects under OSHPD jurisdiction within the last five years. Must have experience of managing healthcare projects under the Sutter Health Integrated Form of Agreement. Must have experience leading the use of Last Planner / Reverse Phase Scheduling. Must have experience leading the implementation of detailed three-dimensional modeling. Must be familiar with the way the above must be implemented to maximize the overall reduction in Project risk.

Knowledge:
Must be familiar and experienced with the risks associated with the design and construction of large scale acute care facility under OSHPD jurisdiction. Must have a clear sense of how to best manage those risks.

Must be familiar with health care construction building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation cost analysis, discretionary approval processes, construction means and methods, construction processes and procedures, and contract implementation. Must be familiar with the State of California building approval processes including OSHPD, the State Fire Marshall and municipal discretionary approvals, as well as JCAHO regulation. Must have expertise in project management techniques and software. Must be proficient with Microsoft Project.

Special Skills/Equipment:
Must have a proven track record of leading behavioral change in significant sized OSHPD construction projects to minimize the overall Project risk.

Strong familiarity with the contents of the FPS IPD Best Practices Guide is very much preferred. Must have a strong level of concurrence with the strategic vision embedded in this Guide.

Familiarity with the following software is preferred: vPlanner, SPS, Navisworks, Excel

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as team skills to ensure appropriate communications and coordination across project delivery team, affiliate and vendors. Must have strong client relationship management skills to maintain positive relations between FPS and affiliate leadership. Demonstration of leadership ability, including the management and delegation of appropriate tasks to technical and non-technical support staff. Expertise in project management from design through final completion and licensing on hospital projects is required.

• Physical Requirements:
Must have current driver’s license and be insurable to travel by car. Must be able to provide construction site supervision.
