Position Overview:

Novato Community Hospital is a 47-bed acute-care hospital located approximately 30 miles north of San Francisco. It is a part of the Sutter Health network of doctors, not-for-profit hospitals and other health care service providers sharing resources and expertise to advance health care quality and access in the more than 100 Northern California cities and communities.

The Radiology Assistant will assist mammography technologist with clerical duties as stated in job description.May also provide radiology file room receptionist duties at desk and telephone.


·Must be familiar with the Computerized Radiology Information System (RIS) and the Mammography Reporting System (MRS), as the source for maintaining accurate records required by Department Policy & Procedures.

·Reviews and inputs mammography patient and exam information into worksheets.

·Reviews and inputs ultrasound patient and exam information into worksheets.

·Reviews and inputs procedure reports into MRS.

·Generates and mails patient results and recall letters.

·Schedules callbacks for diagnostics mammography, sonography, and biopsies.

·Responsible for ordering film jackets for diagnostic mammography patient prior to their appointments.

·Maintains patient demographic in the MRS system.

·Resolving and maintaining problem patient mammography files.

·Research all category 4 & 5 recommendations and obtain pathology reports.

·Works with Radiologist Resource Schedule to work in diagnostic mammography appointments.

·Trains new MRS users

·Inform schedulers of available diagnostic time slots that can be used for screenings.

·Produces addendum request for problem mammography cases

·Generates audit report when required.

·Assist in providing backup for other clerical positions in the dept.


Education:High school diploma or equivalent.Additional courses in business skills preferred.

Experience:Prior experience in hospital or medical office having direct public contact is desired. Prior clerical experience, specifically medical terminology, is preferred.

Knowledge:Ability to type 50 correct words per minute is preferred.Ability to use computerized radiology information system, and knowledge of radiology and/or medical records filing systems (terminal digit filing) preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.Demonstrated ability to professionally handle public contact, confidential information, and maintain effective workflow.
