Position Overview:
Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (SGMF) is a non-profit, multi-specialty health care organization affiliated with Sutter Health. Based in Modesto, SGMF provides quality medical care, health education and research activities in a five-county Central Valley area. SGMF's medical staff includes family practitioners, internists and pediatricians, as well as a range of specialist physicians. Services include imaging, nuclear medicine, a health library, health education programs, occupational medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, infertility counseling, weight management.
Position Summary:  Provides administrative support to the Quality Departments.  Plans and prioritizes the workflow of the departments to meet deadlines. Has the ability to screen and prioritize requests of other individuals, correspondence, and e-mails in an appropriate manner. Maintains confidentiality while relaying information and messages to the intended recipient.  Plans or organizes workload to ensure established priorities are met.   The Quality Services Coordinator will be responsible for scheduling, meeting management, project management, deadline management, and plays a key role in supporting high quality outcomes for Quality Department. Reviews and prepares charts for copying. May require travel within the service area.


Education:  High School graduate. Associates degree in secretarial science or business administration preferred. Applicant may substitute two (2) years of secretarial experience, with increasing responsibility, for each year of education.

Experience:   Must have administrative experience processing paperwork in an organized manner; completing various forms accurately; typing professional business letters; planning and organizing meetings and taking minutes and transcribing them; and prioritizing demands on time in a busy office environment.  Three (3) years of related administrative experience required or five (5) plus year’s secretarial/administrative experience in a healthcare/medical environment.


  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced administrative skills (e.g. minutes, scheduling) and MS Office suite, including Power Point, Publisher, advanced Excel skills and Adobe Acrobat Professional. 
  • Ability to type 65 wpm, with excellent command of grammar, spelling and composition are needed.  Typing certificate is required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and conceptually see how assignments fit into and affect the context of the whole
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Prior experience in a rapidly changing healthcare setting with tight deadlines is preferred. Experience performing event planning helpful
Special Skills/Equipment: 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is required.
  • Ability to uphold quality requirements related to the daily operations and administrative functions at the Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (phone etiquette, document preparation, meeting coordination, deadline adherence, and project coordination) in a consistent manner
  • Communicate (both written and verbal) in a professional manner with all levels of individuals; is considered a representative of the Quality Department at all times.
  • Ability to triage questions to appropriate party, or to provide answers when the information has already been learned from the subject matter expert.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Requires the ability to work effectively in an environment of rapidly changing priorities
  • Requires the ability to draft correspondence with minimal front-end input
  • Requires the ability to handle multi-line phone systems
  • Provides wide range of support, including composing and editing letters, memoranda, reports, spreadsheets, timelines, and presentations
  • Prepares documents and presentations for meetings and conferences as requested
