Program Scrum Master – Ambulatory Quality Reporting System

The AQRS Program Scrum Master is responsible for the coordination, execution, control, implementation and completion of the multi-phased AQRS technical development project utilizing the principles of Scrum Agile to deliver high quality technology solutions. They facilitate the Development team, guiding them through the five standard Scrum Agile events (sprint, sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint review, and sprint retrospective) and thereby produce the three critical Agile project artifacts (the product backlog, sprint backlog, and the product increment).

Collaborating closely with the AQRS Product Manager who decides what to build, the AQRS Program Scrum Master assists the organization in employing an iterative, incremental approach to build complex work systems to support the AQRS program, providing predictability and reducing risk to the Enterprise. As part of the EDM team, this role assists the Product Manager in maintaining transparency regarding product increments, the sprint backlog, resolution of defects, and ensuring that the program goals are met.


The Scrum Master sets the example for the Development team, defines commitment, shows courage, provides focus, and enables openness and respect among members of the team which provides technology to support Sutter Health’s Ambulatory Quality Reporting System strategy, commitments and goals.

Responsibilities :
• Deeply understands and can clearly articulate Scrum Agile framework, values, roles, and responsibilities and can guide the Development team in applying its energy and skill to delight users
• Coaches the team on how to get the most out of self-organization; coaches team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable for the team and organization
• Supports the Product Owner in meeting their objectives through Scrum, especially with respect to refining and maintaining the product backlog
• Facilitates getting the work done by Development team without coercion, assigning, or dictating
• Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged; facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
• Can engage leaders and stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization in critical discussion and is adept at building consensus
• Assists Product Owner with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and disseminating information
• Employs highly collaborative styles to work with dependencies from other teams
• Has the courage to say "No". Serves the Development team by removing impediments and acts as shield from external interference
• Serves the Enterprise by enabling the Scrum team to maximize Enterprise value in the development work they do
• Works with other Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Development teams to increase the effectiveness of Scrum in the organization

• BA in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent education/experience
• Minimum Certification: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) from, or Professional Scrum Master 1 (PSM1) from

Experience and Abilities
• 2–3 years in the role of Scrum Master for Scrum team(s)
• Experience applying Agile and Scrum techniques; experience in a DevOps organization a plus
• Demonstrates solid understanding of healthcare data and analytics, ambulatory care experience preferred
• Familiarity with other Agile frameworks and methodologies, including but not limited to Xtreme Programming, Kanban, Feature Driven Development, Test Driven Development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent mentoring/coaching skills
